Rule 68 Interpretation - Thirty Second Rule

Rule 68 Interpretation - Thirty Second Rule as per NOCP Group (Major Lacrosse Only)

Question:  Both team A and team B are playing 4 on 4 (could be 3 on 3 as well) with off-setting penalties (penalties not called during the same stoppage).  Team A has possession of the ball, their 30-second shot clock is running, and their penalty expires.  They are now shorthanded.  Would the 30 second clock continue running until that possession is completed (either by a shot or loosing possession and regaining) or would it now stop running at the instant they became shorthanded?

Answer:  As soon as a team is shorthanded in Junior and above the shot clock is shut off, whether or not they are in the middle of a possession or not.  Once the team is at full strength again the shot clock runs with a fresh 30-second possession.  This rule does not apply in Minor lacrosse.
