The RMLL
Executive would like to thank the 92 people who donated their time on
May 13th and volunteered as the RMLL Course Marshals at the Forzani's
35th Annual Mother's Day Run and Walk. Without your volunteer
commitment, the Run and Walk would not have gone forward...so thank you
to all!
In addition to helping in the fundraising
of new equipment for the Neonatal
Intensive Care Units at the 3 Calgary hospitals, hopefully we have also
increased the awareness of Canada's National Summer Sport, as well as
our Provincial League. Thank you as well, to Laurie Houghton,
RMLL Promotions Committee, who had the lead role in organizing the RMLL
Fitness Booth and the Course Marshal Volunteers.

Doors open at 4:00 p.m. For the first time in franchise history, the Edmonton Rush will be going for the National Lacrosse League's Champion's Cup as they meet the Rochester Knighthawks in the 2012 title matchup. The Rush, who entered the NLL playoffs as the lowest-seeded team, earned their shot at the championship following a massive 15-3 win over the Minnesota Swarm in the West Division Final last Saturday in St. Paul. That win gave Edmonton its first NLL West Division crown. Rochester made its way to the Champion's Cup game by knocking off the defending champion Toronto Rock 17-13 in Toronto to take the East Division honor. The Knighthawks will be going after their third NLL title, following up on victories in the 1997 and 2007 Champion's Cup game.
Edmonton, which lost the West Division Final in overtime to Washington in 2010, has been on a tear in the playoffs. Prior to the Rush's drubbing of Minnesota, they dropped the Calgary Roughnecks in the West Semifinal, ousting one of the favorites for the 2012 title. The playoff success has dramatically turned around a so-so regular season for the Rush when they finished 6-10 and entered the playoffs having lost two straight.

Edmonton Rush Update!
The Edmonton Rush have made it to the Champions Cup!
I would like to thank all the Members for helping make our November AGM such a success. There were many great ideas that have come out of the breakout sessions that will help make 2012 another great season.
I would like to welcome Connie Hamilton, and Nathan Finkbeiner to our executive team. Connie was elected as Senior C commissioner and Nathan was elected as our new Junior B Tier 1 commissioner. Both Connie and Nathan come with great experience and fresh ideas and we look forward to their help.
The success of the RMLL also depends on the participation of all its Members. Please feel free to send me or any Member of the Executive your ideas on making the 2012 season another great year in post midget lacrosse. Our email addresses can be found under the heading "About Us" on this website
Yours in Lacrosse,
Bill Sucha President, RMLL
